Breaking News: Four individuals transported from Wilmer-Hutchins HS after Dallas school shooting

Three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries while one person was seriously injured during a shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas. The incident, which occurred around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, involved students aged 15 to 18. Dallas Mayor Pro Temp Tennel Atkins stated that all victims are expected to recover. Sergio Campos, a Wilmer City Council member and parent, described hearing gunshots and seeing victims being carried outside the campus. Freshman student Salondra Ibanez shared her experience of hearing gunshots in her classroom and seeking shelter with her classmates.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the identity and status of the shooter, have not yet been disclosed by the police. Safety protocols were implemented by Dallas ISD, and parents were instructed to reunite with their children at Eagles Stadium while everyone else was advised to avoid the area. Some parents expressed fear and frustration over the incident and considered homeschooling their children.

This shooting comes almost a year after a similar incident at the same school in 2024, where a student shot another classmate in the leg. Questions arose about how the student was able to bring a gun into the school despite security measures in place. District officials later revealed that the student’s bag had not been properly checked.

The information in this article was obtained from FOX 4 crews at the scene, Dallas ISD, Dallas police, and Dallas Fire-Rescue. The incident has once again raised concerns about school safety and gun violence in educational institutions.
