Problems with Spotify reported by thousands across the globe

On Wednesday afternoon, tens of thousands of Spotify users worldwide reported issues with the app, including not being able to stream music. Downdetector showed over 20,000 people experiencing problems, with additional reports from the US and parts of Europe. Spotify mentioned that the issue with the Search function has been resolved and they are rolling out an update to users. However, it remains unclear how long it will take for the app to function normally again.

Despite the outage, users were still able to play music downloaded on their devices but could not access artists or use the search feature. The app displayed a message saying “something went wrong” when attempting to search for music. Spotify acknowledged the issue on social media and assured users they were working on it.

Responses from users on social media varied from frustration to inconvenience caused by the outage. Some users expressed their discontent and urgency for Spotify to fix the problem, one user even mentioned switching to rival platforms such as YouTube or Apple Music. Others highlighted the impact the outage was having on their daily activities, such as gym sessions and study sessions. With over 675 million users worldwide, Spotify faces pressure to resolve the issue promptly to retain its user base and restore streaming services.
