Students attend large public safety career fair at UNT Dallas

The University of North Texas at Dallas hosted a Public Safety Career Fair on Friday, giving students in North Texas a unique opportunity to explore the latest technology and tools used in law enforcement. Representatives from around 50 local, state, and federal agencies showcased helicopters, drones, bomb squad robots, and more to encourage young people to consider careers in public safety. The event aimed to provide students with a hands-on experience and information about the requirements for pursuing a career in law enforcement.

The event, now in its eighth year, attracted students from various high schools in the area who were excited to see the high-tech equipment up close. Not only did they learn about the tools used by law enforcement, but they also had the chance to interact with officers and gain insights into the different career paths available in the field of public safety. The Texas Department of Transportation even demonstrated the importance of wearing seat belts in preventing injuries in a rollover crash.

Organizers emphasized the importance of building trust between the community and law enforcement to create safer communities. By bringing students and public safety officials together, they hope to inspire more young people to consider careers in law enforcement and foster positive relationships between the community and those who serve and protect. The event was seen as a fun and educational way to introduce students to the possibilities within the field and change perceptions about public safety professions.
